My almost 15 month old lo has had congestion this week. We were down to 2-3 nursings before this. Now, when she tries to nurse, she has difficulty breathing. I have done everything possible to relieve this congestion. Well, she tries to latch on a couple of times, decides it is not worth it because she can't breathe, and shakes her head no. We have gone the last two nights with her not nursing before bed. She has only been able to nurse about once a day, in the morning.
I feel depressed that this may be the weaning point. She is my last baby, and we had so many difficulties nursing that I did not experience with my other babies. Thrush, trouble gaining weight, etc. I am still paranoid about her lack of weight gain. In many ways, this nursing experience has been a big let down.
However, I know, you can lead a horse (baby) to water (boob), but you can't make her drink:)
